Yummy Whole Wheat Waffles

Whole Wheat Waffles

3 3/4 c. whole wheat flour
1 tbsp. packed brown sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp of ground flax seeds
1/2 tsp. salt
5 well beaten eggs
3 c. milk
1/2 c. butter, melted
1/4 c. finely chopped nuts
Assorted toppings
Stir together whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt. Combine well beaten eggs, milk and melted butter. Gradually stir egg mixture into dry ingredients; beat until batter is smooth.
Pour batter onto hot waffle iron; sprinkle with finely chopped nuts. Bake. Makes 4 (10 inch) waffles.
Serve topped with yogurt, sour cream or whipped cream; fresh fruits, such as sliced and sugared strawberries, peaches and bananas; snipped raisins; and additional chopped nuts.

Making home made waffles in a mini waffle maker was lots of fun! My mixer for the whip cream wasn't working so we all whisked our own whipping cream the kids have never done that before and let me tell you their arms were so sore! It worked out pretty good!! Making Waffles doesn't have be made on just Sunday morning. I totally recommend the mini waffle maker it worked awesome
